About Us

The Guildwood Village Community Association (GVCA) is a long-established, volunteer-led organization representing residents and families across Guildwood. Founded in 1958, the GVCA has been bringing neighbours together for generations—building community connections, supporting local initiatives, and advocating on issues that affect daily life in our neighbourhood.

Led by a dedicated group of volunteers and supported by hundreds of engaged residents throughout the year, we work to promote community spirit, encourage meaningful involvement, and represent the interests of Guildwood when working with governments and other organizations.

Why We Exist

The GVCA exists to help ensure Guildwood remains a vibrant, connected, and livable place to call home, while also helping it grow in thoughtful, sustainable ways. We bring neighbours together, keep residents informed, and advocate on behalf of the community so local voices are heard in decisions that affect daily life.

Our current priorities include:

  • Development & zoning updates: We monitor local development proposals and zoning changes, share clear, timely updates, and advocate for planning decisions that respect the character and livability of our neighbourhood.

  • Traffic, transit, and safety concerns: We work with residents and the City to address traffic flow, speeding, pedestrian safety, and access to reliable transit—because safe streets matter to everyone.

  • Parks, green space & environment: We support the protection and improvement of parks, green spaces, and natural areas, promoting environmental stewardship and access to outdoor spaces for all ages.

  • Housing and community planning: We engage in conversations around housing, density, and long-term planning to help ensure growth is balanced, inclusive, and aligned with community needs.

  • Community events: We organize and support events that bring neighbours together, strengthen connections, and foster a sense of belonging within our community.

Get Involved

The GVCA is powered by neighbours who care about where they live. Whether you’re looking to stay informed, meet new people, or play a more active role in shaping our community, there are many ways to get involved—at a level that works for you.

  • Become a member: Membership helps support community events, advocacy work and communications—while giving you a voice in local issues, access to updates, and the opportunity to vote on matters that affect our neighbourhood.

  • Join the board: Help guide the direction of the association, contribute your skills and perspective, and play a meaningful role in representing the community.

  • Volunteer on a committee: Lend a hand on specific initiatives like planning, events, communications, or advocacy without a long-term commitment.

  • Help with events: From seasonal celebrations to neighbourhood gatherings, volunteering at events is a great way to meet neighbours and support community life.

  • Share an issue or concern: Let us know what’s happening on your street or in your area. Your input helps inform our advocacy and priorities.
