Volunteer Opportunities

The Guildwood Village Community Association is powered entirely by volunteers. Everything we do — from community events to advocacy and communications — happens because neighbours step forward to help.

Whether you have a few hours a year or want to take on a larger role, there’s a place for you.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with the GVCA is a meaningful way to:

  • Meet neighbours and build connections

  • Contribute to positive change in the community

  • Share your skills and ideas

  • Support local events and initiatives

  • Help ensure Guildwood remains a vibrant, livable neighbourhood

You don’t need special experience — just an interest in your community.

Ways to Get Involved

1. Join the Board: Our Board of Directors helps guide the direction of the association, set priorities and represent the community on key issues.

Board members may assist with:

  • Community advocacy and planning discussions

  • Communications and outreach

  • Event planning and coordination

  • Financial oversight and governance

If you are interested in serving on the GVCA board, please submit your CV to the Secretary at secretary@guildwood.ca to be considered for nomination at the next AGM. If you have any questions about joining the board, please contact us.

2. Serve on a Committee

Committees allow volunteers to focus on specific areas of interest without joining the Board. Examples may include:

  • Housing

  • Events & Community Engagement

  • Communications & Publication

Committee participation is flexible and project-based — a great option if you want to contribute in a focused way.

3. Help With Events

Not ready for a committee? Event volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get involved. You can help with:

  • Set-up and take-down

  • Registration tables

  • Event logistics

  • Promotion and outreach

  • Day-of coordination

It’s a fun way to meet neighbours while supporting community traditions like Guildwood Day. Email events@guildwood.ca to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities.

4. Share Your Skills

Have expertise in communications, design, finance, planning, legal matters, fundraising or technology? We’re always looking for neighbours who can lend professional skills to strengthen the association’s work. Even a small contribution can make a big difference.

Ready to Get Involved?

If you’re interested in volunteering — whether occasionally or in a larger role — we’d love to hear from you. We welcome high school students who are looking to complete community service hours while giving back locally.
