Housing & Development in Guildwood

Guildwood is experiencing significant change. As Toronto continues to address the housing supply shortage and affordability issues, new development proposals are shaping the future of our neighbourhood.

The Guildwood Village Community Association recognizes that housing is a critical issue across the city. At the same time, we believe growth should be thoughtful, well-planned and respectful of the character, infrastructure and livability that make Guildwood unique.

Our role is to help ensure residents are informed, engaged and represented throughout that process.

Our Role

The GVCA Housing & Development Subcommittee works on behalf of the community to:

  • Monitor development proposals and planning applications

  • Review zoning and land use changes

  • Engage with City staff, planners and elected officials

  • Share clear, accessible information with residents

  • Gather and communicate community feedback

  • Advocate for responsible, balanced development

We are not a decision-making authority, but we do play an important role in ensuring that community voices are heard in conversations that shape Guildwood’s future.

Supporting Smart, Balanced Growth

We support housing solutions that:

  • Increase supply responsibly

  • Align with infrastructure capacity (schools, transit, healthcare, roads, etc.)

  • Protect green space and environmental assets

  • Respect the existing character and scale of surrounding homes

  • Strengthen, rather than strain, the community

Thoughtful planning today helps ensure Guildwood remains a vibrant and livable neighbourhood for generations to come.
